A charitable toy bank in Amsterdam that gives free toys and books to children (0–10 years) in families experiencing financial hardship.
Speelgoedbank Amsterdam is a non-profit initiative founded in 2013, dedicated to ensuring that every child in and around Amsterdam can experience the joy of play, regardless of their family's financial situation. Operating under ANBI status, it operates with volunteers and supporters and receives no remuneration for its board or volunteers. Families with a valid Voedselbank pass or a professional referral can visit once every three months to select free toys and books. The collection includes both new and gently used items, with particular attention to outdoor toys, educational goods, and books. Each birthday child also receives a special gift. The organization is supported by community donations—both in-kind and financial—and volunteers are welcome to contribute via their contact form.
