NIO House Amsterdam is a multifunctional cultural and lifestyle space located in a historic building at Leidsestraat 32-34. It features a car showcase, café, co-working spaces, art gallery, event venues, and a rooftop pavilion, all designed to foster community engagement.
NIO House Amsterdam, opened in May 2024, occupies the historic Metz Building at Leidsestraat 32-34, a landmark dating back to 1891. Originally constructed for the New York Life Insurance Company, it was later home to the Metz & Co department store. The building underwent a thoughtful renovation by architecture firm MVRDV, preserving its historical elements while introducing modern design features.
The seven-storey, 2,700-square-meter space offers a variety of functions beyond a typical car showroom. The ground floor houses a car showcase and a café, featuring a soft yellow kids' corner. The second floor includes the Forum, a space for workshops and presentations, alongside a "Joy Camp" for children. The third floor features co-working spaces available for public use, while the fourth floor hosts an art and design gallery. The fifth floor is reserved for NIO's offices, and the sixth floor offers event spaces. The rooftop pavilion, designed by Gerrit Rietveld in 1933, provides panoramic views of Amsterdam.
Each floor is designed with a different theme centered around the user community, offering visitors diverse city views and experiences. NIO House Amsterdam serves as a community hub, hosting workshops, presentations, and cultural events, thereby integrating NIO into the local fabric of Amsterdam.
