About Gardens of West

Welcome to a vibrant oasis that embodies the essence of community, sustainability, and agricultural innovation. Nestled at the confluence of several unique entities, our space serves as a dynamic meeting point where nature and urban life harmoniously intersect. Here, you will find an array of experiences designed to educate and inspire individuals of all ages about the joys of gardening, healthy eating, and environmental stewardship. Our mission is rooted in the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to connect with nature and understand where their food comes from.

At this remarkable venue, we are proud to host the Fruittuin van West, a delightful fruit garden that offers a hands-on experience for families and individuals alike. Visitors can pluck fresh fruits from the trees, participate in workshops, and learn about the importance of biodiversity and sustainable practices. Adjacent to this, the City Vegetable Farmer showcases the art of urban farming, demonstrating how we can cultivate our own vegetables even in city settings. This initiative emphasizes the significance of local food production and provides practical knowledge on how to grow one's own food, regardless of space limitations.

Our community is further enriched by the presence of City Farm Osdorp, which focuses on educational programs for schools and local organizations. We believe that engaging with children and young adults about the environment is crucial for fostering a generation that values sustainability. Through interactive lessons, hands-on gardening activities, and engaging storytelling, we inspire young minds to take an interest in nature and the food system. Alongside these initiatives, Terragon offers workshops on permaculture and regenerative farming practices, providing invaluable insights into how we can work with nature rather than against it.

In addition to these educational offerings, we host a variety of events throughout the year, including seasonal festivals, workshops, and community gatherings. These events are designed to foster connections among residents, promote local businesses, and celebrate the rich, diverse culture of our community. Whether it's a family-friendly day out or an informative workshop on sustainable practices, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We believe that by bringing people together, we can create a greater understanding of the importance of nature, community, and sustainable living.

As we continue to grow and evolve, our commitment to education, sustainability, and community engagement remains steadfast. We invite you to join us on this journey—whether you are a seasoned gardener or someone just beginning to explore the world of plants and food. Together, we can cultivate a greener, more sustainable future while enjoying the beauty and bounty that nature has to offer. Come and experience the magic of our shared space, where every visit brings new opportunities for learning, connection, and growth.
