School kids in Amsterdam have around 12 weeks of vacation – in spring, May, summer, fall and at the end of the year. Way more than their working parents who will need to find ways to keep their kids entertained.

A holiday day camp is a great solution. The kids usually go half or full days and will have a great time learning new skills. There are many camps on offer, from arts & crafts to sports and from theater to tech. With the camps happening on different days and being organized in different parts of the city, it’s important to have a good overview and pick the right one.

That’s where vakantie kamp comes in, a super handy list of all the day camps, updated for each vacation period.

Much like Amsterdam Kids, the list is maintained by a dedicated parent who started it to collect ideas and share them with other parents so that the kids could go to camp together.

vakantiekamp.amsterdam lists the activity, dates, age range, location as well as the price and provides a link to the sign-up page. There are always many camps to choose from, several hundred in the summer, the busiest period of the year in terms of camps. And the information about the camps on the list is checked by the camp organizers.

Once signed up, parents usually receive an email with everything they need to know about the camp: Drop off and pick up time and location, whether the kids need to bring their own lunch or snacks, any equipment to pack, allergy information and emergency contacts, etc.

On the first day of the camp the kids will meet the caregivers and get to know the other kids, will find out about the schedule and activities and then start their day.

In terms of activities and schedule, there are many options. Kids can pick their favorite sport, be part of a theater production with a final performance, build a robot or program their first video game, learn about science or do various arts projects. They can go for single days or full weeks, do half days or full days, or whatever fits the schedule best. And camps happen all over the city to make drop offs and pick ups easy for the parents.

Interested in signing up your kid for a camp? Then head over to vakantiekamp.amsterdam and see which camps are available during the upcoming vacation period.
